1. The Dragonfly Story

Dragonflies have lived for more than 300 million years. They have evolved not only in size but also with human culture. Know more of this beautiful insect, how they adapt, the myths surrounding them, their life cycle and their importance in determining the quality of the natural environment.
Background of Mr. Mohd Roslee
Mr. Mohd Roslee is a Parks Officer working in the Nature Parks department of the National Parks Board. Besides his love for nature, his passion and interest in dragonflies are unparalleled.
2. Fruit Tree Grafting
Date: 27 February 2010
Time: 3pm – 4pm
Venue: Yishun Library
Do you wish to learn how to propagate your favourite fruit tree? With a little practice and determination, almost anyone can learn how to prepare root stocks and select bud scions for propagation. This talk will explain the tools needed for basic grafting and demonstrate simple techniques such as side grafting and wedge grafting.
Background of Mr. Tan Thiam Seng
Mr. Tan is a Principal Technologist with Horticulture Branch, Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority. He has more than 30 years of experience in fruit crops and vegetables, specializing in growing fruit trees. He provides extension and
advisory to local vegetable growers, and is involved in training foreign participants in overseas projects. Mr Tan is also a trained artist in Chinese brush painting.
